Van der Steen: ‘You can more than fulfil the new labelling requirements with Vers 3000’
The new legislation that has been in force since 25 November 2005 obliges food producers to specify all ingredients and allergens on the label. “Calculating the compounded sales products is what takes up the most time,” said Maarten van der Steen of B&B Slasoft. “All data related to ingredients, allergens and nutritional values of food products can be automatically calculated and specified on the labels and in the product specifications with our Vers 3000 software package.”

“Thanks to Vers 3000, companies can more than fulfil the new labelling requirements,” emphasizes Maarten van der Steen, account manager at B&B Slasoft. “Our software package will quickly and efficiently automate data about ingredients, allergens and nutritional values of products. If, for example, a company has a new spices mix and it adds it to the ingredient definition, the composition of one or more products will be changed. This new composition will be automatically calculated and adjusted on the labels and in the product specifications via Vers 3000.”

Automated solutions
B&B Slasoft offers automated solutions that have been fully harmonised with food industry practices. The range consists of two components: the Vers 3000 expanded software package for all business processes and the Flex 3000 CT registration system. Vers 3000 is built up from more than 70 modules and can be used in many combinations at virtually every food company. Currently, the system is operational at more than 400 companies including fish wholesalers', companies that trade in game and fowl, catering wholesalers', the meat industry and fruit and vegetable wholesalers'. B&B Slasoft has developed the Coldstore 3000 cold store program especially for companies that store third party products. You can generate an invoice at any given moment based on the work performed.

Vers Label

The new functions of Vers 3000 have, according to him, been fully integrated in the Vers Label, Vers Inkoop and Vers Receptuur modules. “Label statements can be defined and maintained with the Vers Label module. These labels cannot only be printed at the office but can also be printed through the linked Flex 3000 CT registration terminal. Companies have the option of printing required labels immediately based on an order line at the office. The required labels can be automatically printed when registering through the terminal. Label formatting can be freely defined and you can define up to 999 different label formats. The formatting program has an integrated completion functionality for the Flex label printer, types LP300, LP400 and LP500.”

Vers Receptuur

The Vers Receptuur module is meant for defining recipes of compounded products on the computer according to Van der Steen. “Production schedules and price calculations can be made based on these recipes,” he says. “A maximum of 999999999 ingredient definitions can be defined through Vers Receptuur. An existing ingredient definition can be used as the foundation to derive a packaging variant when creating a new ingredient definition. Information related to the version number, the creation date and the last changed date can be kept updated for each ingredient definition.”

Vers Productspecificatie

Vers Product specification is a program that fits in perfectly within the framework of the HACCP principle. “This will ensure that all information related to a specific product can be printed. When a buyer wishes to receive a product specification from a company, you simple have to press the button. The product specification of the relevant article will be printed for the customer using a Word template. The program has copy functions to ensure that specific parts of the text that are the same for certain products do not have to be repeatedly entered. Company-specific purchasing specifications can also be defined with Vers Productspecificatie. Pushing the button once is enough to print the purchasing specifications for the supplier concerned.”
